✍️Headmistress's Homework #1 🖤
Today's prompt is free. Beginning tomorrow, they're a paid Smut School perk.
Welcome to Day One, Smuts. 🖤
You’ve already done the hardest part, you showed up.
For the next year, I’ll meet you here every day with one writing prompt. Some will be funny. Some will be strange. Some will make you uncomfortable. My hope is that all of them get you writing.
Remember: you don’t have to write a masterpiece. You just have to write.
Every day.
For a year.
Today’s Prompt
When I visited Gettysburg this summer, a security guard asked to look inside my purse.
As he poked around, I breathed a sigh of relief when he skipped asking me to open the leather pouch where I keep my travel bullet.
That moment got me thinking.
Write a scene where your character has something in their purse, backpack, briefcase, or pocket they desparately don’t want discovered.
Maybe it’s funny.
Maybe it’s horrifying.
Maybe it’s the beginning of a romance.
Maybe it’s a clue that solves a murder.
Maybe it’s something none of us could have imagined.
Take this prompt wherever your fingers—or your pen if you’re old school—lead you.
Tips for using this prompt:
Don’t overthink it.
Set a timer for 20 minutes.
When you’re finished, post your story on Substack or just keep it for yourself. If you post it, tag me so I can read it. I can’t wait to see where these prompts take people.
Then, hit comment and let me know what you thought of today’s prompt.
Tomorrow, we’ll do it again.
I’ll be here. Will you?
With love and lube,
Headmistress Black 🖤
